Albany - Schenectady - Troy - Title IX
The misguided belief that only females can be victims of sexual misconduct or sexual violence needs to be corrected. It can happen to anyone, regardless of sex, gender identity, or gender expression. Sexual violence is devastating to women and men alike and often victims share the same reactions – shame, confusion, and self-blame. As a result, they suffer in silence. Anyone who has been assaulted or is otherwise a victim of sexual misconduct is entitled to medical, legal, and emotional support. Title IX, which prohibits sex-based discrimination in any school or any other education program that receives funding from the federal government, is intended to protect all students.
